We've already reported there are huge changes to the local arts scene. And now there's even more.

Today, the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region announced that executive director Bettina Swigger is leaving to accept a position as executive director of Festival Mosaic, a 40-year-old classical music festival located in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Swigger will work at COPPeR until Jan. 14.

On the phone Swigger explained that she was approached by Festival Mosaic music director Scott Yoo (who organizes Colorado College's music festivals) to apply for the position. Swigger beat out 70 other applicants across the country for the job.

“It was a very difficult decision,” Swigger says when she found out she was accepted.

COPPeR is now seeking applicants for the ED position (see the full job description here.) The deadline for applications is Dec. 3. Despite the aggressive search, Swigger says COPPeR is prepared for a new ED, from daily operations to its brand-new cultural plan. “All the plans are in place. It’s poised for someone to really just come in and take over.”
