The Lorax would agree with the African phrase, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, but the next best time is today."

Or, "I'm sick of staring at [insert obnoxious neighbor's name here]'s ugly house. I'm planting an effing tree."

Ahem. The solution? Thanks to the Arbor Day Foundation, you can plant 10 trees by joining the organization before Jan. 31. The Foundation will mail you: two white flowering dogwoods, two flowering crabapples, two Washington hawthorns, two American redbuds and two golden rain trees. All are guaranteed to grow, or else they'll be replaced gratis.

If you sign up, the trees (each one between 6 and 12 inches tall) will be mailed at a good planting time between Feb. 1 and May 31. Best of all, this deal comes with a $10 membership that lasts six months. An extra $5 buys a year-long membership.

Seriously, who doesn't just love flowering trees? Well, maybe not everyone. That's why there are tons of other tree packages to chose from on the Foundation website.
