Want to see Martha Graham in action?

Posted By on Thu, Apr 7, 2011 at 1:12 PM

Tickets for the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center's April 19 performance from the Martha Graham Dance Company are sold out. (Trust me, we tried to get some tickets to give away, in vain.) But you can get a taste of what her dances look like, performed by the icon herself, right here.

And for more on Graham and the FAC, check out this week's cover story.

This video films Graham's "Night Journey" ballet, which is the story of Oedipus and Jocasta. (Those already familiar with the story may want to skip to 1:15, where the action begins.)

Here is Graham performing "Lamentation," the piece she did for the FAC's crowd in 1936:

This video features Graham dancing in "Appalachian Spring," which was composed by Aaron Copland.

Click here to watch a video of current principal dancer Katherine Crockett perform her solo in "Divergence of Angels," which she will perform when the company visits the FAC.
