Missed connections, done right

Posted By on Mon, Apr 11, 2011 at 9:15 AM

Sophie Blackall has been getting a lot of press lately for her "Missed Connections" series of drawings, which was recently made into a book (taken from her blog).

Blackall (whose Etsy page is here) illustrates colorful missed connection messages — largely futile attempts to connect with an alluring stranger — with whimsical, gently surreal drawings. Often, the missed connection message is more bizarre than the drawing. They're fun, interesting and, compared to a lot of art, easy. Think of it as the artistic confessional concept of Post Secret, mixed with Blackall's background in children's book illustration.
