BAC's new paint job almost done

Posted By on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 1:23 PM

If you haven't been in Manitou Springs recently, then you may be surprised to see the paint swirl that once ringed the top of the Business of Art Center is gone. Instead, its walls are now each a separate, bold color, accented with black.

A peek at the entrance wall.

Thanks to volunteers and staff who've pitched in over a handful of weekends, the BAC will likely see its facelift completed by Monday. The stucco building wasn't an easy job either, says studio artist Linda Ross, who was painting on a tall ladder the day of our visit. The walls just suck up the paint, she says, and many coats are required.

And if the red, lime green, purple and yellow hues aren't enough, local artist and comic book illustrator Jonas McCluggage has adorned the eastern wall with a lovely mural.

My vote? Have McCluggages work cover the BAC.
