If you want to hear the latest on the Ute Pass Trail project, here's your chance.

El Paso County has announced:

The El Paso County Park Advisory Board will conduct a community meeting on Tuesday, September 13, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at MarCroft Hall, 9105 Chipita Park Road. The information forum will include an update on the Ute Pass Trail project and public comment on the planning efforts for the proposed trail segment from Manitou Springs to Cascade. All interested citizens are encouraged to attend.

The County Parks Master Plan includes the development of the historic Ute Indian Trail that is designed to connect Ute Pass communities. To date, approximately two miles of the trail have been constructed from county line to the Ute Pass Elementary School. For the last several years, County Parks has been working with trail advocates, area neighbors, Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) and the Colorado Department of Transportation regarding the construction of the Manitou Springs to Cascade segment primarily on CSU property. This trail segment also includes a potential trailhead in the Cascade area.

“The Ute Pass Trail project is another example of public-private collaboration,” said El Paso County Commissioner Vice Chair and Park Advisory Board Liaison Sallie Clark. “We welcome participation and input from our community on this trail's importance to this County’s past and as an historic landmark in our region.”
