As we reported in this issue's Fall Arts Preview, there are burgeoning connections between the art and military communities.

Here's an upcoming example: Plates and Palettes, on schedule for Sunday, Oct. 16, from 1-5 p.m. in Old Colorado City. This art walk will include food and drink from local restaurants, and the artists to meet at galleries will be local combat veterans who have taken up the brush or pen. View art demonstrations and bid on a work, which will enter you into another drawing with a grand prize of a free art class at Cottonwood Center for the Arts.

Plates and Palettes will be held during Taste of Old Colorado City, but the $15 charge will benefit the Wounded Warrior program that provides art therapy for troops suffering from PTSD. For more, call Cottonwood at 520-1899 or visit
