Notes from the Business & Arts Lunch

Posted By on Thu, Oct 6, 2011 at 4:50 PM

Today, we attended the Colorado Springs Chamber and COPPeR's annual Business & Arts Lunch, a networking event and awards ceremony honoring philanthropists and business leaders who support the arts. As always, the lunch included a handful of great performances by singers, actors and musicians.

This year, some of the entertainment came via Ormao Dance Company, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, WYNOT Radio Theatre and the Taiko Society. Check out Taiko in this video we recorded:

Those of us who didn't want to run away with the Taiko group had our hearts set on joining WYNOT, but there was business at hand. The winners for the three awards given at the lunch were Locals Barbershop (two-time winner in our 2010 Best Of awards) for the Creative Workspace Award; Current, Inc. for the Philanthropy Award, and Chuck Murphy as the Business Leader in the Arts award.

Most notably, COPPeR also announced an initiative it will launch next February, the Peak Arts Fund, an annual drive for local arts organizations and nonprofits.
