Killer stromboli lives at NJ Pizza Cafe

In this week's restaurant review, we paid a couple visits to downtown's newest denizen NJ Pizza Cafe. While the restaurant, former home of Arabica Café and now decked out in green and red, nailed more than a few staples, its stromboli was just ridiculous. It was as rich as freshly glazed doughnuts are sweet, and perfect with an interior of meat.

Unfortunately, when we called on Monday to fact-check our story, a duo of employees told us that the stromboli had been pulled from the menu due to some concerns about how the dough was coming out of the oven. (Perfectly is how it was coming out, I'd say, but hey.) We mentioned this in our story and went on with our day.

Luckily, co-owner Jeff Puglisi e-mailed us today to tell us it was all a big, delicious misunderstanding.

"I just wanted to clear up what was undoubtedly a miscommunication to you," he writes. "We do very much still serve Stromboli. What had happened was that we had to make some adjustments to our procedure with it, as well as with the oven to ensure the thick stuffed breads were cooking all the way through. Because of this we made the choice to not offer it for a few days while we tweaked what needed tweaking. Please feel free to stop in anytime and enjoy the ham and salami Stromboli that I understand you really enjoyed."
