Solar Roast Coffee seeks franchisees

Since I first reported on Solar Roast Coffee here more than four years ago, I've personally been a big fan of the organic-minded and super eco-friendly business.

I recall joking during my interviews with brothers Mike and Dave Hartkop about future global domination and a killer investment potential for would-be entrepreneurs who could easily get behind the unique operation that was using solar panels and a giant solar concentrator to roast coffee with virtually no carbon footprint (past the transportation of involved products).

The brothers just smiled knowingly, clearly aware of the potential but also the patience that would be required to bring it all to fruition.

Enter today, when I received the following call for franchisees from Dave:

As you can read, the brothers, along with incoming project partners International Franchise Solutions and Franchise Growth Systems 360, will be hosting an informational session at 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26 at Pueblo's Rawlings Library.

The key to what will make this franchise different from all others:

Solar Roast Coffee franchises will be the most environmentally friendly coffeehouses the world has ever seen. Franchises will buy locally grown foods, promote energy consciousness, and provide connections to local resources such as recycling, community events and workshops. Franchises will also support the economies of many of the world's most impoverished developing nations. It will do this by purchasing fairly-traded, organically grown coffees from community-owned co-ops around the world.
