Venetucci Farm has been giving away pumpkins and supporting organic food growth for over 70 years, and each year, thousands of people continue to learn that “the earth is made of a dirty word.“ Did you know that bacon doesn’t come from the super market? “That’ll do, pig, that’ll do.”

Babe jokes aside, Venetucci Farm is trying to raise money for a new barn. Their old one fell years ago, and they’ve got the whole Old McDonald bunch shivering out in the cold, so, before next winter the community needs to help these walking pork chops, beef briskets, drumsticks, and other animal residents, build a warm place to sleep. The barn will include storage space, a green house, a root cellar and a multi-use room.

Through the Pikes Peak Community Foundation they’ve already raised $100,000, but the need is $300,000. Also, local artist Nard Claar proposed a $15,000 2-to-1 challenge grant, and with every $5,000 donation will be giving away a signed and numbered copy of a painting of Venetucci Farm. Donations can be given on their website, or via mailing checks to 730 N. Nevada Ave, 80903.

PPCF also put out a “Maximizing Your Gift to Venetucci Farm” document, which will tell you about tax breaks and things of that nature. They also issued a letter to “Friend[s] of Venetucci Farm.” It’s worth taking a look just to read the horse’s veggie jokes.
