Frozen yogurt market apparently not tapped-out yet

Posted By on Mon, Jun 16, 2014 at 11:48 AM

It was back in April, 2011 that I wrote the inspired blog-post title "Yet another new self-serve frozen yogurt place to open."

Which was intended to speak to the market glut that appeared in quite a short time period, starting with iTopIt and YoYogurt

Not too much cannibalization has occurred since, though Buttercup's Frozen Yogurt did close at last year's end

And now, we have a fairly sizable international chain called Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt moved into the Copper Ridge development, at 122 Tracker Drive, Suite 110, as of May 1.

This locally owned location is celebrating its grand opening today through this Saturday (June 16 through 21) with promotions, discounts and prize drawings, with some proceeds going to Dream Centers of Colorado Springs

Here's more on the outfit, from a press release:

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt is a self-serve, choose-your-own-toppings frozen dessert franchise with more than 300 locations in the U.S. and Australia. Orange Leaf offers a multitude of delicious traditional and original flavors, including no-sugar-added, gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan alternatives. In 2013, Orange Leaf was ranked as the Fastest Growing Frozen Yogurt Chain based on network sales by IBISWorld; one of the fastest-growing, limited service chains by Technomic; and, one of the top three new franchises by Entrepreneur. Orange Leaf’s pro-franchisee culture offers some of the lowest fees in the industry and encourages owners to become a part of their communities. Customized with a generous selection of do-it-yourself toppings, Orange Leaf provides an innocent indulgence, “self-served” in a stimulating atmosphere.
