Three weeks ago, Mayor Steve Bach issued a news release about six public meetings he'll host regarding city infrastructure needs.

Bach opposes the stormwater fee measure that will be decided by voters today, and instead has said he wants to fold stormwater into a larger bond issue for other needs as well, such as public safety and roads.

If stormwater passes today, it would be a tricky proposition getting people to support another ballot measure, although perhaps not impossible.

But if stormwater goes down, look for Bach to step up his efforts to put together a ballot measure for the April city election, using feedback in these public meetings as a basis for that. Who knows? Maybe Bach will see this as his big opportunity to seek re-election by offering to save the day on the city's backlog with a ballot measure that he would then usher through the process.

So far Bach has told a Republican group he's 99 percent sure he won't run and said publicly he hasn't made a decision. Others already in the race include former mayor Mary Lou Makepeace, El Paso County Commissioner Amy Lathen, Attorney General John Suthers, and, according to the Gazette, Justine Herring.

Yesterday, the city sent out another reminder of the six meetings, times and places as stated below.
