UPDATE: PT's reopens as Sick Puppy Saloon Saturday

Posted By on Mon, Dec 22, 2014 at 10:07 AM

Update: After speaking with Sick Puppy's ownership, who requested not to be named, I have added the word "building's" in the second paragraph below to clarify that the original owners of the property, who did operate Appaloosa Gentlemen's Club, are in charge of Sick Puppy. However, they wished to make it clear that they did not have any stake in the business ownership of PT's — rather they leased the space to that entity, they say. I apologize for the confusion.

Let's be clear right up front here: The Sick Puppy Saloon is not a strip club.

Yes, the former occupant to the space, PT's Showclub, was a nudie bar, and the building's ownership hasn't changed since that outfit shut down at 2013's end. But they've been busy since March drastically overhauling the spot to create a sleek new "rock n' roll nightclub."

General manager Ed Ryan says there's only three other clubs in the nation that will have as sophisticated of a light and sound system.

The grand opening celebration is this Saturday night, with no cover; drink specials, DJ's and more hoopla. And the break on a cover charge will extend through the year's end, and possibly into January, says Ryan.

He's promising "top-of-the-line security" that includes walks to guests' cars and special attention toward women who enter and leave alone being safe. Plus an overall "friendly" atmosphere. Most of all, he's boastful of the ambiance: "You've gotta see it — there's nothing like this even in Denver."

We'll have more about the Puppy's food and drink offerings in next week's Side Dish
