Now that all the leading mayoral candidates have filed their latest campaign finance reports, Attorney General John Suthers is still king, with $127,790, more than twice the next highest fund-raiser, which is El Paso County Commissioner Amy Lathen.

Lathen has raised $62,184 and spent $16,095.

Suthers, who makes his official announcement for office on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Ivywild School, has spent about $10,500.

Former Mayor Mary Lou Makepeace has raised $24,967 and spent $8,057, while former City Councilor Joel Miller has raised $7,135 and spent $1,068.

Candidate petitions are now available at the City Clerk's Office at 30 S. Nevada Ave. They're due back on Feb. 11.

Other races on the April 7 city election ballot are three at-large seats, the District 2 seat for Miller's unexpired term, and the recall of Helen Collins from her District 4 seat.

The mayor's seat is open because incumbent Steve Bach says he won't seek a second term.
