Revelation returns, MoZaic departing, and more food/drink fodder

A little roundup of some food-and-drink news and upcoming events, in no particular order:

• The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey just released its rare Revelation red wine this past weekend. Here's details on it from a press release:
This blend of reserve Cabernet Sauvingon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc is made from 100 percent Colorado grapes, grown in the Grand Valley near Grand Junction.
The 2012 vintage is a small batch release, with only 80 total cases made. It is only available at the Canon City winery and online.
The Bordeaux style blend was aged in new American oak for 22 months, and is one of the biggest red wines the Abbey has ever produced. It is a cellar-worthy wine with up to a decade of aging potential.
Retail price is $50.
Motif will host An Italian Culinary Experience Wednesday, Feb. 18. Details: 
Participate in an evening in the kitchen with Chef Andy Darrigan and then enjoy a 3-course meal you helped prepare. Guests will be immersed in the MOTIF kitchen observing and participating at the various prep stations.

Welcome Drink: Champagne Limoncello Cocktail
Hors D'oeuvre: Homemade Meatballs
Main Entree: Herbed Ricotta Raviolis with Fresh Marinara Sauce and Basil Pasto Sauce
Dessert: Mascarpone Panna Cotta

Participants will receive a Welcome Drink at the start of the evening as they begin their time in the kitchen. Upon completion of the session, they will then be directed to the dining room to enjoy a full 3-course meal with a discussion time over dessert with Chef Andy. Guests will leave with a copy of the recipe from the evening and a special offer from MOTIF.
6:00-7:00 P.M.: Kitchen Observation with Chef
7:00-7:30 P.M.: Hors D’oeuvres
7:30-8 P.M.: Main Course
8:00-8:30 P.M.: Dessert & Discussion with Chef

• The annual Fork & Bottle Wine Tasting & Auction takes place from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Antlers Hilton (4 S. Cascade Ave., rwcns.org). Tickets to sample and shop are $40 ($75/couple).

• An employee confirmed today that MoZaic restaurant will close for business after Valentine's Day weekend. If you care for a final visit, seat remain open for Thursday and Friday's dinners, she says. You can view the menu here. We're awaiting a call back to confirm the fate/future of the attached Inn at Palmer Divide

• We also have a call into Lofty Brewing Company, which appears closed, its website and social media pages taken down.   

• PJ's Bistro owner Paul Jakubczyk made a big announcement on his Facebook page today:
I'm excited to announce the next location for PJ's Bistro. The European Cafe and the old PJ's has joined forces. We will operate at the old La Petit Mason location on Colorado Ave., two doors from Brother Luck's [Street] Eats. We are happy to be a part of what is becoming "The Ave", a local area for high quality, independent restaurateurs.
• We can give an early heads-up on the 30th annual Colorado Springs Chefs' Gala, set for Sunday, March 29. This year's guest principal judge is chef R. Allen Smith. Here's a little on him:
R. Allen Smith is an instructor at The Santa Fe School of Cooking. Chef Smith has just recently returned from Dubai, UAE, where he completed project management of a "New Style" grocery market, "Maybury." It is the first of its kind in the UAE, which includes an interactive cafe and cooking studio. Some of his freelance projects include recipe development for "Everyday with Rachael Ray" and “Chef's Educator" and freelance styling for Gourmet Magazine.

• Finally, outside of our direct marketplace, I received a press release from a company seeking to bring "radical transparency to the products we all buy everyday, by allowing consumers and organizations to instantly attach their own 'labels' directly onto the barcode of a product." More so, it should illuminate your grocery store shopping experience. Its app, called OpenLabel, launches tomorrow on Apple. Here's a three-minute video that explains it all.
