The Senior Center will soon be under new management

The Colorado Springs Senior Center offers meal programs and exercise classes, and provides a great social outlet for older adults, many of whom are very low income. 

But, like a lot of great things in this world, the center isn't a money maker. In 2011, the Colorado Springs Housing Authority took over the Senior Center from the city, in order to keep it from closing. Now, the Housing Authority is giving it back to the city because it can't afford to keep the doors open. The city, in turn, is looking to offload the center to a contractor. The only bidder is the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, which also took over the operation of the city's pools during the recession. The Y raised fees at the pools and has been able to make the situation work.

Before the city can hand over the Senior Center to the Y, it has to hold a public meeting, where input from citizens will be received. Here are the details:
