UPDATE: County Assessor Steve Schleiker reports that elected officials for the most part are not blocked on his parcel website, although Sheriff Bill Elder and District Attorney Dan May, because they're peace officers, which is allowed under the law.

As for Klingenschmitt, Schleikder says he and an FBI agent came to his office earlier this year asking for his property information to be blocked because he had received multiple death threats after saying that the tragedy of a unborn baby being cut from a pregnant woman in Longmont was "the curse of God upon America for our sin of not protecting innocent children in the womb."

Schleiker says he agreed to block Klingenschmitt's address from his website for a time certain, which expires today.

The Liberal bastion of the West, with a capital L, is arguably Aspen, with its free buses, subsidized housing and penchant for supporting Democrats.

So Aspen is the last place you'd expect to find extreme right-winger Gordon Klingenschmitt. Right?

The state representative from El Paso County House District 15, which we wrote about in this week's edition, detests everything the Left stands for, most notably LGBT rights, women's right to choose, income equality and on and on.

Nevertheless, Klingenschmitt owns a portion of a condominium at The Innsbruck in Aspen, according to his disclosure statement on file with the Secretary of State's Office, which identifies the holding as a timeshare in the BlueGreen Vacation Club.

His disclosure also reports he also owns a home in Colorado Springs, which is not listed on the El Paso County Assessor's Office website. We presume that's because he, like other elected officials and certain others, can request their information be hidden from public access for a variety of reasons by those who don't want Joe Public to know where they live.

He lists other assets valued at more than $5,000 as GJK, Inc., his private corporation that broadcasts the Pray in Jesus Name Project, which he labels "journalism"; a burial benefit; savings and checking accounts in two banks; an IRA, and an account with the Navy Federal Credit Union. (Klingenschmitt, who calls himself "Dr. Chaps," is a former Navy chaplain.)
