Springs Citizens Building the Future has raked in a total of $179,775 for a campaign to promote the city's .62 of a percent sales tax hike for roads.

According to the latest campaign finance report filed Thursday, the group raised $90,775 since the last filing period, adding to the $89,000 already received. It spent $72,579, leaving cash on hand of $107,196.

Contributions are coming from builders and construction companies, and spending has focused on campaign management, polling and campaign materials, such as door hangers.

Soon, a television ad will hit network and cable channels, which we posted here. The tax was proposed by Mayor John Suthers and endorsed by City Council.

Two efforts are underway to defeat the measure in the Nov. 3 election.
