Taste of Jerusalem adds breakfast

Posted By on Tue, Nov 3, 2015 at 4:34 PM

Taste of Jerusalem owner Abdul Nasser just introduced a new menu that includes breakfast service, starting at 7 a.m.

To his and our knowledge, he's the only Middle Eastern eatery in the Springs serving traditional Arab breakfast dishes like glaba, shakshuka, fatayer and foul, or breakfast at all, for that matter.

No, I didn't know what any of those were either before taking a look at this menu, but he says they're served across countries like Lebanon, Egypt and Yemen:

You'll notice other alluring plates like a shawermah omelet, and the lunch/dinner menu has fish and lamb entrées plus some more new items, all enabled by a newly installed hood in a renovated kitchen space.

Now in his eighth year, Nasser says he wanted to grow his business and do more with his menu downtown, having opened a second location on South Academy Boulevard a few years ago that he ended up closing because "I couldn't be in two places at once."

He said quality was slipping when he left the downtown shop in employees' hands, and wanted to ensure that didn't happen again. He notes being limited prior by only electric cooking equipment like panini presses, and no kitchen hood, so he couldn't get too ambitious with the menu then.

All that's changed now, and he says an expanded dining room space will follow.
