The lowdown on divestment

Posted By on Thu, Nov 5, 2015 at 1:39 PM

You've heard the phrase "vote with your dollars" in reference to spending selectively to align with your values — it's oft used in relation to local food movements and directing capital toward small sustainable farms and the like.

But there's another side to managing your money toward the causes you believe in, or against the causes you don't. It might mean something as easy as choosing a company like Calvert into which to invest your IRA money.

Or it may look more like fossil fuel divestment by contrast, meaning "dumping stocks, bonds, or investment funds that are unethical or morally ambiguous."

Learn more about that latter issue in particular at 5:30, Friday, Nov. 6 at the Tim Gill Center for Public Media

A group of panelists will present on the topic and field questions, at no cost. RSVP here
