Brooklyn's is a beauty

Posted By on Sat, Nov 21, 2015 at 3:26 PM

As I mentioned in yesterday's post and a recent Side Dish column, Brooklyn's on Boulder Street opens this evening at 5 p.m. at 110 E. Boulder St., as the speakeasy front of Lee Spirits Co.

Ring the bell for service once inside the tiny men's tailor shop, and someone will eventually appear to guide you back to the gin-based bar. It's a dimly lit, comfortable and elegant space.

We attended an invite-only soft opening last night with a small crowd, tasting our way through a number of outstanding cocktails as well as a gin-infused pot of rooibos-peppermint-vanilla-cocoa tea. We also ordered a couple plates of food that are constructed and delivered by neighboring Wild Goose Meeting Room.

The biggest surprise of the evening was finding master mixologist Nate Windham behind the bar, alongside co-owner Ian Lee and Urban Steam alum Eliza Lovett

Interestingly, the menu doesn't list out ingredients for the cocktails — one called the Elon Musk costs $100 (or "10,000 cents"). Instead, a quotation kicks off each drink's description, followed by tasting notes.

Here are a handful of pictures that show a bit of the loveliness (please excuse the blur from the low lighting):
