If you've every strolled through 189-acre Strawberry Hills, north of North Cheyenne Canyon Park and south of Mesa Avenue, you know it provides a nice respite from urban living without the challenge of a rocky and steep climb.

Now, the Broadmoor, owned by billionaire Phil Anschutz, wants it for a riding stable, after its previous plan to build a stable adjacent to Bear Creek Regional Park went by the wayside.

There's a battery of other trades contained in a "Proposed Land Exchange" between the city and the luxury resort that seems to already be in the bag, as they say.

Just check out the city news release just in:
The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services will be seeking community input on an exciting opportunity for our parks system made possible through a land exchange with the Manitou and Pikes Peak Railway Company, COG Land and Development Company, PF LLC, and The Broadmoor Hotel, Inc., collectively referred to as “Broadmoor”. This proposed land exchange provides an opportunity to achieve several major goals identified in the Colorado Springs Parks System Master Plan.

Public is invited to come and hear about a potential land exchange that will enhance the City’s park system.
And Steve Bartolin, Broadmoor chairman, also is quoted in the city's news release saying, "We look forward to working with the City as we assist the Parks Department in completing key Park System Master Plan elements.”

If you think your opinion will matter, you can provide comment during a public meeting slated for 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, at Bear Creek Nature Center, 245 Bear Creek Rd.

Here's the proposal:
