Opponents of the land swap have been granted a show-cause hearing in District Court so the city can explain why it is withholding appraisals of Strawberry Fields open space and a small parking lot.

Both are subject to swap with The Broadmoor in a deal that's scheduled for a City Council vote on May 24.

We wrote about the swap and The Broadmoor's owner here.

The Independent sought the appraisals some time ago and were denied access. We reported on that here.

Now, attorney Bill Louis, representing plaintiff Kathy Meinig, a Springs resident who opposes the land swap, says via email, "Judge [Larry] Schwartz granted the motion for show cause I provided to you yesterday. Now City must appear before Court and explain why my client is not entitled to the appraisals. Working on getting a fast court date as required by statute and will keep you posted."

Here's the court documents filed by Louis.
If Meinig prevails, the city must pay her attorney fees, under the law.
