Posted By on Mon, Jun 13, 2016 at 11:32 AM

Crave Real Burgers has entered into the James Beard Foundation Blended Burger Competition, and is hoping for your vote(s) through July 31 for a chance to join four other winning outfits in New York City in October to prepare their burgers at the historic James Beard House.

About the competition:
The Blended Burger Project™ is a movement that strives to make burgers better by blending ground meat with chopped mushrooms, creating an incredibly delicious patty that’s healthier for your guests and more sustainable for the planet.

As his entry, chef Jeff Richard has created the Drunken Mushroom burger, which is constructed with 75 percent Colorado Proud beef and 25 percent sautéed shiitake and cremini mushroom. The shrooms are blended with fresh thyme, rosemary and garlic. Then the burger is topped with Parmesan, Gruyere and Swiss cheeses, plus truffle mayonnaise, ketchup, and drunken onions with tempura-fried shiitake and cremini mushrooms. It's also served with an au jus dip.

All four of Crave's locations, including the 7465 N. Academy Blvd. store will offer the burger through July 31 as well. Votes may be cast once per day.
