2018 Tour de SRAM COS, Aug. 2, 5-8 p.m. $10-$147. SRAM, 980 Elkton Drive, sram.worldbicyclerelief.org/TDS2018.
The summer of 2018 has been fabulous for cycling enthusiasts, with new protected bike lanes, new directional signage and a new bike share program topping the list of cool happenings. Even better, the fun isn’t over yet. Tour de SRAM has arrived, an annual bike-themed benefit held at the
SRAM factory in Colorado Springs to benefit World Bicycle Relief’s initiative in rural Africa. Now in its sixth year, the goal is to raise $14,700, which translates into 100 Buffalo Bicycles — sturdy rides that provide a reliable way for people to travel freely to work, school and beyond. You can get into the event for an easy $10, which gives you access to local beer, live music and eats from popular food trucks, not to mention live and silent auctions. Auction items cater, of course, to bicycle lovers, and you might see a few beer-related prizes on the roster, too. The more you pay to get in on the action, the more benefits you get. A VIP entry ($147) equals the cost of one Buffalo Bicycle and will score you your event entry, a tour and a pretty rad swag bag with SRAM/WBR goodies. It’s worth noting that the event is family-friendly, with lots of activities and a cool bike course for the smaller humans of the clan.
Editor's note: Please note the new date. Due to a rain delay, the Tour de SRAM will not be held on July 28 as previously reported, but on Aug. 2.
