You can never have too many festivals — as the city of New Orleans proves on a weekly basis — but you can definitely have too few. All of which makes the announcement of a new three-day music festival in our fair state capital all the more gratifying. Especially when that inaugural installment will feature headlining sets by Kendrick Lamar, Stevie Wonder and Florence + The Machine.

The freshly minted Grandoozy music fest is scheduled to take place at Denver’s Overland Park Golf Course from Sept. 14-16. In addition to its heavyweight headliners, the event will feature sets by St. Vincent, The Chainsmokers, Sturgill Simpson, De La Soul, The War on Drugs, Mavis Staples, Phoenix, and a couple dozen other worthy acts.

Grandoozy is the brainchild of Superfly, a New York-based marketing and event company co-founded by Rick Farman and Jonathan Mayers. The two promoters are best known for giving birth to another curiously named festival called Bonnaroo.
