Back in the '90s, when Sub Pop Records was still building a roster of acts that included Nirvana, Soundgarden and Mudhoney, the idea of bringing onboard the Preservation Hall Jazz Band was probably not high on the Seattle label’s list of priorities.

But times change, as evidenced this week by the company's most enthusiastic press release in recent memory, which begins: “We are so fucking stoked to welcome the legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band to the Sub Pop roster!”

The label also announced that the increasingly eclectic New Orleans act will be joining Trombone Shorty for his "Voodoo Theauxdown Tour," which makes its way to the Red Rocks Amphitheatre on September 21.

This week's other newly announced concerts include Scotland’s forever-mohawked punk band The Exploited, death metal’s ever-popular Dying Fetus, and the comparatively disturbing motivational speaker Dr. Jordan Peterson.
