If you’re going to get the truth from anyone about the migrant caravan that dominated the news cycle in late 2018, you’re going to get it from Alice Driver. This prolific and accomplished bilingual journalist, based in Mexico City, has reported for The Atlantic, National Geographic, PBS and more, and recently embedded herself in that caravan to provide timely, accurate content for TIME. Driver has covered migration, human rights and gender equality, and plans to bring all areas of her expertise to Colorado College on Feb. 5. As the national debate over funding for a border wall continues — a debate that led President Donald Trump to perpetuate the longest government shutdown in history — Driver’s perspective should prove valuable in understanding the immigrant experience and the truth about the border. A Q&A will follow.
