Colorado Springs City Council adopted new electric and gas cost adjustments on April 23, leading to a reduction of about $10 per month for the typical residential customer.

For the average client, the electric cost adjustment results in residential bills dropping by $2.52 or 2.8 percent; commercial bills declining by $21.60 or 3.6 percent, and industrial bills falling by $1,440.00 or 4.3 percent.

For the average client, the gas cost adjustment leads to a drop of 16.9 percent, or $7.72, in residential bills; a decline of 23.3 percent, or $160, in commercial bills; and a dip of 24 percent, or $1,597 in industrial bills.

Cost adjustments reflect city-owned Colorado Springs Utilities’ changing fuel expense. The new rates become effective May 1.
