Colorado’s presidential primary election will be held on March 3, 2020 — also known as “Super Tuesday,” Gov. Jared Polis and Secretary of State Jena Griswold announced.

The date will mark Colorado’s first primary in 20 years. Previously, the state had used the caucus system to determine nominees, but Colorado voters in 2016 chose to replace that system with primary elections, also giving unaffiliated voters a voice in the primaries.

More than a dozen states are planning to hold their primary elections on Super Tuesday next year. The date follows primaries in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina.
