News media reported June 18 that Republican activist Kanda Calef was arrested April 10 by Colorado state troopers. She’s suspected of brandishing a handgun at an off-duty U.S. marshal on Interstate 25 while driving 90 miles per hour through “the Gap” construction area near Larkspur.

Troopers confiscated a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson. Calef was released from Douglas County jail on bond.

The Denver Post described Calef as “an adamant Trump supporter.” She’s sought a state House seat and a post on City Council, but lost both bids. Calef could not be reached for comment.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office suspended her concealed weapons permit on April 23, a sheriff’s spokesperson confirmed.
