Two days after Congress members introduced a bill launching another investigation into the U.S. Olympic Committee’s handling of sexual assault reports, the amateur sports organization announced on June 20 that it was changing its name to the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. “This is a proud day for Paralympic and Olympic sport in the United States and a change that is representative of our organization’s commitment to inclusivity,” USOPC Chair Susanne Lyons said in a release. “The world-class Paralympic athletes — and staff who support them — deserve this recognition as outstanding representatives of Team USA.”

The city of Colorado Springs reports it has no plans to alter its tagline: “Olympic City USA.”

The most recent legislation calls for a blue-ribbon commission to evaluate the USOPC’s national governing bodies’ responsiveness to athletes; responses by the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s handling of harassment and sexual assault reports; diversity of USOPC’s board members and other issues.
