Dozens of people showed up for a rally at the Ent Center for the Arts in Colorado Springs on Oct. 6 to urge those running for U.S. Senate in 2020 to embrace the Green New Deal and other climate-crisis-related legislation. The rally was organized by the Colorado Sunrise Movement and Joe Salazar of Colorado Rising.

A new mountain biking event will debut in Colorado Springs in September 2020. The Pikes Peak APEX will be a four-day challenge on the slopes of Pikes Peak.

Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) awarded $171,000 in grants between Palmer Land Trust and the Fountain Creek Watershed Flood Control and Greenway District for planning and conservation projects.

Pikes Peak Women will host a panel of experts to discuss running and managing successful political campaigns, on Oct. 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 15 S. Seventh St. 

Denver City Council voted unanimously Oct. 1 to raise the minimum age for tobacco sales from 18 to 21.
