Sen. Cory Gardner’s Colorado Springs office served as a rallying point when Environment Colorado delivered 500 petitions on Nov. 8, calling for Gardner to take “stronger action on global warming.”

The action followed the Trump administration’s move to withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement, which requires all signatories to put forward their best efforts to reduce emissions through climate actions and report actions taken.

Gardner, a Republican, faces a tough re-election campaign next year at a time when public support for climate solutions is rising; yet, Gardner has either supported or offered no position on such Trump administration climate policy rollbacks, curtailing clean car standards and easing methane regulations.

“Our generation will have to face the long-term consequences of years of inaction,” Joshua Luckey, a Colorado College freshman and member of Environment Colorado, said in a release. “We need our leaders to listen up, understand and then stand for climate solutions.”
