"Micha Profile," Maria Battista
Commonwheel Artist Co-op: Renaissance: Sculpture as Poetic Pilgrimage, a one-woman show by Maria Battista, displaying her sculpture (most in bronze), as well as jewelry and figurative drawings. Sept. 19 to Oct. 13. Opening reception, Fri., Sept. 19, 5-8 p.m.
"The Ties That Bind," Chavez Gallery
Chavez Gallery: Story Time, new paintings, jewelry and interactive art exhibits from Kris and Liese Chavez. Sept. 5 to Oct. 2. Opening reception with live music from My Name is Harriett, Fri., Sept. 5, 6-8 p.m.
The Chamber Orchestra of the Springs
Eroica, the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs’ season premiere, features this classic Beethoven work, along with a selection from Mozart (with Joseph Liu, 2013 winner of the Amateur Pianists International competition) and “Ludlow: Four Scenes for Orchestra.” Concerts will be held Oct. 18 and 19.
Front Range Open Studios
Front Range Open Studios: A self-guided tour of over 15 artist studios, including those of Jodie Bliss, Dennis Liggett, Richard Pankratz and others. A map is available online, along with tour hours. Sept. 13-14.
Sean O'Meallie
GOCA 1420 at UCCS: Play: Sean O’Meallie & Jason Chase, a dual show from these two playful artists. Chase “delights with his super perfect world of paintings painted bigger, better and brighter than reality.” O’Meallie, of Colorado Springs, “is renowned for creating eye-catching, thought-provoking, and beautifully crafted sculptures with multi-layer content that packs a punch.” Oct. 24 to Dec. 19. Opening reception, Fri., Oct. 24, artist lectures at 5 p.m.
G44 Gallery
G44 Gallery: Heidi Jung New Works, an exhibition from the contemporary realist. Sept. 12 to Oct. 11. Opening reception Fri., Sept. 12, 6 p.m.
"Jordan and Jorginia," K8e Orr
Manitou Art Center: Cartomancy, a series of new works from K8e Orr based on the original Brothers Grimm fairy tales that help form “the major arcana of a Tran-sylvan tarot card deck.” Oct. 17 to Dec. 1. Opening reception, Fri., Oct. 17, 5-8 p.m.
Parish House Baroque
O Rosa Bella, two shows from early music group Parish House Baroque featuring selections from Biber, Bach, Telemann and others, with guest soprano Katherine Johnson. Concerts will be held Sun., Oct. 5 and 7 for free.
"Front Range Red Rocks," Tracy Felix
Tracy Miller Studio Gallery: Common Ground, a showcase of artwork from renowned artists (and husband-wife pair) Tracy and Sushe Felix. Oct. 18 to Nov. 22. Opening reception, Sat., Oct. 18, 5-8 p.m.
"The Descent from the Cross by Torchlight," IDEA Space
I.D.E.A. Space at Colorado College: Rembrandt: Beyond the Brush, 35 etchings from the world-renowned artist (by way of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts), whose etchings display remarkable human empathy and “sensitivity to the psychology of the common man.” Oct. 27 to Dec. 13. Opening reception and IDEA Cabaret presentation by Rebecca Tucker, Thurs., Oct. 30, 4:30 p.m.
"Rolling," Sheary Clough Suiter
Pikes Peak Studio Tour: A self-guided tour through the workspaces of 20 area artists, including: Chris Alvarez, Jana L. Bussanich, Nard Claar, Julie Kirkland, Laszlo Palos and many others. Go online for a map and tour information. Sept. 20-21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Malfitano, The Perk Downtown
The Perk Downtown: Featured Artist: Julie Malfitano. Oct. 1 to Nov. 30.
Veronika String Quartet
Veronika String Quartet: The Great Tradition, a performance from this renowned group, which will play selections from Tchaikovsky, Stravinksy and Prokofiev. Sun., Oct. 12, 2 p.m. $20, $10 for students. Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. The group will also perform Sat., Oct. 11 in Pueblo.
"Bacchanale au taureau noir," Sangre de Christo Arts Center
Sangre de Cristo Arts Center: Picasso — Matisse — Chagall, an exhibition of the various artists’ lithographs, etchings, linocuts and more. Oct. 19 to Jan. 3.
