Vinnie Snyder of Hold Fast Coffee Co. and Peak Place Coffeehouse has staffed and supplied
Woodmen Valley Chapel’s coffee stop since mid-2018, intending to make it a gathering space. The decor’s hip and modern, and the Jesus factor only makes its presence known once one passes the threshold into the worship center’s lower floor proper. As for the coffee shop’s wares, Snyder told us that since he’s not paying rent on the space, he can set prices lower. We pay $2.50 for a cappuccino made with Hold Fast’s Rock Solid blend and $3 for a pourover made with Costa Rican beans, one of two choices available. The latter’s a clean and rich expression of the delicately flavored bean, showcasing promised fruit punch characteristics. As for the cappuccino, it’s rare to find an example of the drink that uses milk foam not to dilute but to make the nuances more accessible. We find it easy to detect cherry and dark chocolate notes in the subtly creamy drink. For the price, it’s shockingly good.
