Welcome, Colorado Springs, to the Indy’s 26th annual Best Of awards, where we honor the best restaurants, retail establishments, arts institutions, community organizations and more in our growing city. How do we know they’re the best? Well, because you told us. Through an extensive two-round voting process, the Pikes Peak region showed up en masse to tell us which people, places and things deserved the honor of being named the best of the best for 2019.

In these two consecutive issues, browse Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in more than 160 categories. While you’ll find familiar winners who take away awards year after year, several dark horses entered the race and finished first this year, offering plenty of surprises.

In this first issue, we’ve collected our Food, Drink and Nightlife winners, so you can set up a date for your next anniversary dinner, check out new additions to the Springs’ food scene, scout new locations for your coffee meeting or cocktail hours — or just drool over the pictures — whatever works.

Congratulations to all our finalists — especially our Gold winners, profiled in the following pages. And remember to pick up the second Best Of issue Oct. 30 for the best in Community, Shopping and Services.

The 2019 Best Of writers: Bill Forman, Eric Friedberg, Amy Gillentine Sweet, Bryan Grossman, Bridgett Harris, John Hazlehurst, Zach Hillstrom, Matthew Schniper, Alissa Smith and Griffin Swartzell
