  1. Colorado Springs City Council voted 8-1 on March 26 to adopt an ordinance banning the parking of RVs on streets citywide, widening a previous ban on parking RVs on residential streets. Yolanda Avila opposed the measure, which she says targets homeless people.
  2. Undersheriff Joe Breister retired March 28 after 32 years with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. Former Springs Police Chief Pete Carey succeeds him.
  3. Colorado Springs is one of five cities where a $500,000 grant from Lockheed Martin will be used to bring computer science education to youth through 4-H clubs.
  4. More than half of young people in Colorado became sexually active by 12th grade, according to a report by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and Trailhead Institute released March 28.
  5. Sheet Metal Workers Local 9 in Colorado Springs was recognized by the Department of Labor with the 2018 Platinum HIRE (Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing) award for an apprentice program comprised of 39 percent military veterans.
  6. Democrat Stephany Rose Spaulding has filed paperwork to run for the U.S. Senate seat in 2020 now held by Cory Gardner. Spaulding ran against U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn last year.
  7. House Bill 1170, which would provide additional protections for renters, passed in the Senate on March 28. A final House vote has been delayed until April 30.
  8. Penrose-St. Francis Health Services and St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center are now certified members of the MD Anderson Cancer Network, Centura Health announced.
  9. Several small sections of the Santa Fe Trail on the Air Force Academy will be closed intermittently for repairs through April 27.
