Best Of Colorado Springs Ballot FAQ

Welcome to the 25th annual Colorado Springs Independent Best Of Colorado Springs — YOU vote for the BEST of the BEST OF Colorado Springs.

After years of hosting the original Best Of Colorado Springs, we’ve decided to shake things up with a new, two-step process. If you’re unfamiliar with the process, read on for a list a frequently asked questions. Otherwise, click here for the 2018 Best Of ballot!

I want to nominate a business that doesn’t fit into any of the categories. How do I add one?

At this time, all of the 2018 Best Of categories are final. Each year when we pick new categories we consider the following:

  • Would Indy readers find a category useful?
  • Are there at least three local businesses that fit into a category?
  • Is it the right fit for an alternative newsweekly? (i.e. coffee shops and art galleries are hip; best podiatrist, not so much.)

If you have a category suggestion that meets the above requirements, email digital@csindy.com with your idea and we’ll consider it for next year’s ballot.

How do I know if I submitted my ballot?

The Best Of Colorado Springs online ballot does not have a final “submit” button. Once you click the “nominate” button in each category your vote is recorded. Feel free to log in and out as you wish.

Why do I have to make an account?

Our voting software requires users to create an account in order for verification purposes. We do not share user information with outside organizations for any other purpose.

Only one ballot per reader. For verification purposes: ALL SURVEYS MUST INCLUDE NAME AND A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS. You will be prompted to submit your information as you make your first nomination.

How do I get people to vote for my business?

Campaign, campaign, campaign! In 2017, we had over 55,000 write-in nominations — thank you! Our Indy staff buckles down, orders pizza and starts merging all the data over the course of four days.

Once we’ve compiles all the votes, the top nominees will move on to the final voting round.

Do you really count every vote?

Yes! We look at every single write-in — so we know when you write in “Rita my next-door neighbor” for Best Recreational Marijuana Dispensary, or “girl with dreads” for Best Bartender/Mixologist.

Why are there two rounds? Didn’t it used to be only one?

Given that it’s the 25th anniversary of the original Best Of Colorado Springs, we wanted to expand our voting process to encourage as many votes as possible. The nomination round enables us to take the top readers’ picks as we always do and add some editorial staff suggestions — meticulously curated by committee — to bring even more amazing local business into the spotlight. After that, the final vote and the winners of the Best Of title are up to you.

Why are certain locations popping us as I type in my nominations?

Our voting software pulls in Google search results as you type in your answers. You can ignore these suggestions and write-in as you like, or select the appropriate Google option.

What are the boundaries for the categories marked North, South, East, West and Downtown?

When voting in this year's Best Of categories where we specify a region (North, South, East, West, Downtown), please vote based on these boundaries in order for your vote to be counted properly:

North/South dividing line: Pikes Peak Ave.
East/West dividing line: Cascade Ave.
Downtown: between Uintah St. and Fountain Blvd. and from Wahsatch Ave. to I-25.

I’m having trouble registering. What do I do?

The online Best Of ballot works better on some web browsers than others (Chrome and Safari are preferred). We suggest trying a different internet browser and/or internet connected device. If that doesn’t work, let us know via email at digital@csindy.com.
