Re: “UPDATED: Transgender service in the military — what's happening now?

I have a thought for all of you Conservative Christians and your End of Days beliefs Did you ever think that by Trump giving you the pro-rich tax breaks (GREED), anti-LGBT (not Unconditional Love), anti-choice policies (legalization not Grace of God), that he is actually creating the world situation that you are predicting will happen with the anti-Christ? LMAO!!!

Over the past twenty years, Trump didnt support your agenda but after the election he has changed his tune and this doesnt worry you too? Why would a POTUS reverse all of the progress for personal freedoms that he has been trying to take away recently? Dont you understand that God has given all persons the freedom of Choice and Grace, not legalization of YOUR religious beliefs? and that it doesnt line up with the message and life of Christ? Greatest Commandment is to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength & YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF!

Im laughing all the way to the Return! (Yes, I am a born again lesbian, follower of Christ not religion, and there is nothing you can do to change this- its incorruptible seed of God, the power of Christ within! DBW

Re: “Local Democratic leadership tries to rekindle a fraught relationship with organized labor

Forced Unionism is wrong in America and passing a Right-To-Work law is the best way to help protect Colorado workers and their families.

Re: “Local Democratic leadership tries to rekindle a fraught relationship with organized labor

It was 2011 when the incident happened about which the IBEW guy has his nose out of joint? Come on folks, time to move on beyond, way past time. May I point out that Chuck Murphy is an important community leader, and a very generous man who has supported the El Paso County Democratic Party for years, enabling it to grow and do good things in this community? The "business side" of running a political party is as important as the organizing side. While I don't know the specifics of the squabble with the electrician's group, folks need to let this conflict go after 5 years, and work instead on their many commonalities. Mr. Murphy is a compassionate man who is important to the Democratic Party. We all care about getting the current occupant of the White House out as soon as possible, and we can't do it if old conflicts and divisiveness rule local Dems. We also can't do it if union members vote Republican......

Re: “Pikes Peak Summit Complex still worthy of higher cost

It makes no difference how much is spent on the Summit House. A one year warranty for a $50M project? Hopefully someone will guesstimate $10M a year for maintenance cause it'll be needed. Who will pay for that?

Re: “Local Democratic leadership tries to rekindle a fraught relationship with organized labor

I am finding the responses to this column just petty.
Talking about printers and how people haven't been in the union themselves. Does this mean that people can't stand up for America? No it does not. There is a guy in the WH who avoided the draft and is now making decisions about who can't join the military.

Electra Johnson used Vistaprint not a union printer when she ran her campaign for county commissioner. How is that labor friendly?????? Curious people want to know.

Re: “Mitch McConnell, Gardner to attend GOP fundraiser in Denver

So Gardner can 'meet and greet' his constituents if they pay him big bucks? Interesting. And what can I say about McConnell? Nothing good that's for sure! I hope the people that couldn't afford to attend this function realize that they are all about the money...not the people!

Re: “Local Democratic leadership tries to rekindle a fraught relationship with organized labor

I'd like to know how many real unions Electra Johnson has belonged to? How many picket lines has Electra Johnson walked? How many times has she been laid off from her job? What has been her ACTUAL, boots-on-the-ground experience fighting for union rights, not just stories?

Re: “A new vision for downtown Springs in Olympic Museum area

What a wonderful visionary idea - a thicket of skyscrapers on the downtown side of I-25 obliterating the mountain views. Happy developers. Happy highrise dwellers. Not so happy taxpayers who will pay plenty to assist the developers build THEIR dream city.

Skyscrapers are an anathema to walkable, affordable, desirable to live and work in cities. Crowded bustling robust Denver needs skyscrapers - COS doesn't. However, on the remote chance that there IS a need for these uglies, then build them EAST of Wahsatch.

Re: “A new vision for downtown Springs in Olympic Museum area

Well this is another scam by the developers to make themselves richer. It is laughable how they try to "sell" it by saying all the things they think the voting public wants to hear - no taxpayer funding, good for growth and so on.
Maybe they would be more believable if this community had done anything over the past 40 years to maintain and keep up with the existing infrastructure, jobs, community issues like public safety and education. Instead it is always looking for the "next best thing". Maybe why all the previous downtown development plans have failed. Does anyone ever stop to think if people wanted to live in Denver they would just move there? I would say they have figured out a way to get around the public voting on their project but special tax districts impact everyone who lives or visits this community just who else do you think is going to pay the higher prices to eat, work, shop or live in this "New" downtown? And what becomes of the existing downtown? Just let the weeds grow until that can be re-developed for profit.

Re: “Reader: Yup ... it's us bad, old Bible-believing Christians...

I remember the big assed ad in the Gazette a year or so ago, from some evangelical pentecostal minister, who got scared after a thousand plus local people signed their name to an even bigger ad that said the preacher wasn't reflecting the values of our town... and posted guards at the church doors...just in case militant gays showed up...
We are still experiencing public vitriol...even the GAzette editorial board tried to make Gaebler into a villian for attending the vigil for Orlando...its' still public vitriol...but now we have congressmen and ambassadors and governors and sheriffs who aren't afraid to stand up for us...

Re: “Colorado Springs' 2C road measure takes some heat

i sat here for the last 25 yrs while the city argued over who was gonna pay for storm water and whatnot and now they are all kinds of worried about street repair and the fact that they can NEVER catch up on the work.......well maybe if they would have done it the right way instead of arguing over who's bill it was this wouldn't be a problem now would it? just a thought.
