Re: “CBI finds "no evidence" to substantiate intimidation of sheriff's notaries

@John D Perhaps you should read the article again? You said "This investigation should have been handled by an out side District Attorneys Office who has no affiliation with Dan May or Elder." Uh, yeah, it was handled by CBI. That is not part of the DA's Office or Sheriff's Office.

That being said, you are right in that this investigation was not complete. They basically called it a "he said, she said" with "no evidence" to prove which side was right. No evidence because they didn't bother to interview the independent witness. Perhaps that was the plan all along?

Re: “Hiking during hunting season, and free park access on Veterans Day

Good advice Bob. Had some hikers stumble right into the area where I was elk hunting this fall, with their dog running loose. No bright clothing, nothing. Didn't even have a clue it was opening weekend. I explained to them the risks they were taking and they turned around and headed out.

Re: “Downtown stadium proposed for Antlers Park

I suggested another blighted area, the Greyhound Race Track on North Nevada. Plenty of room and more convenient to both Colorado College and UCCS. Less of a congestion issue than in downtown. If they have their hearts set on pushing a stadium on Colorado Springs, at least be realistic about the size and location of it. There is not enough room in that park for a stadium. The city should move a visitors center there and allow food trucks. Increased activity and security patrols would deter the street people and drug use.

Re: “Pastor Ted gets an unexpected competitor

One summer I visited my family in springs. They invited us to attended this "church/full on coffee shop in the lobby"...I know this is standard now at these super churches...anyway...Teeth Haggard gets up there...and instantly...I call it. This guy is a creep. Big gummy smile. I have that gift. BS at a mile away. I'm also a magician...so I know that tactics of NLP.
I told my family...this guy is creepy what are u doing here...but since I was the prodigal black sheep from California...I was ignored. So they continued giving$ n time to feel better about their dysfunctional life. Anyway one year...one penis and a crack pipe later he's doing his best "Jimmy Swaggert"
I quickly called them. So are u still going there? "Well a new guy took over". $:&;!
Unbelievable...u can't he's the blind that are willingly and repeatedly plucking their own eyes out. Dont give me the "but churches do so much good." It ain't right if its all to justify their crack n pipe habit....and purchase their third home.
Wake up and see the light...it ain't a big gummy toothed pastor.

Ps his failed reality show was a further attempt to lure in the weak. It failed too. But I'm sure we haven't heard the last of Toothy Ted.

Re: “CBI finds "no evidence" to substantiate intimidation of sheriff's notaries

Wow, comprehensive independent investigation? How is that possible when the third witness a Lieutenant wasnt even interviewed? And how is it that Dan May did not re-cues himself from this investigation when he is good friends with Bill Elder. This investigation should have been handled by an out side District Attorneys Office who has no affiliation with Dan May or Elder. When will the corruption end? And these corrupt officials be held accountable? Thank you Pam for being the only one willing to look into this and write the truth.

Re: “How to make goat milk lotion

It will last 6 weeks on the shelf if you add in preservatives. If you don't add them, you have to refrigerate it and use within 2 weeks.

Re: “One woman’s exploration into the Springs’ homeless problem

I simply have a few IDEAS t o offer: I moved to Colorado Springs in Oct 2003.

Idea # 1:
I worked for a day labor place for some temporary contribution towards income until I secured a permanent job. I was sent to various hotels, colleges, and other hospitality businesses as either a banquet or housecleaning. As a banquet server, to keep a long story short, SO MUCH FOOD WAS THROWN OUT THE JUST WAS NOT USED...SOME NOT EVEN TOUCHED! Pans of baked fish, pans of vegetables, and many dessert items-cakes, pies, etc. It literally 'sickened' me that this was thrown in the black liners in with the other TRASH!!! The staff were allowed to have one meal from the prepared during our break in between serving, but the rest....DUMPED-if no one on the serving staff got caught sneaking a plate home. There MIGHT be some FDA law requiring this-one wold think there would HAVE to be because it is HARD to imaging 'just throwing it out'. COULDN'T it be sent to schools for next day serving? Assisted living places? Homeless shelters? So many other ideas it seems could be SO conducive AND ECONOMICAL!!! I'm talking those BIG but shallow cafeteria stainless steel pans-sometimes as many as 2,3, or 4 of them FILLED w/baked fish, casseroles, etc. (more development on this idea is realized)

Idea # 2:
Would it be possible for the city to develop/designate in EACH zip code community-OR SOME KIND OF qualifier elements in specific zip code areas, i.e. low income areas-to have a COMMUNITY GARDEN specifically FOR low income and/or homeless persons? People could grow their own veges' for themselves OR trade to each other, i.e. a bundle of carrots for cucumbers. OR to sell at farmers markets or designate a day each week they can sell their vege's AT THEIR community garden.

Idea # 3: There are SO MANY-Definitely several vacant properties I see throughout the city. ARE landlords educated about how HUD and/or any/all other subsistence housing programs work....to their benefit? a) renters ARE more subjected to adhering to rules of responsible living, consistent, on time rent payments, and...IDK...IF or WHAT they can write off for tax breaks...MY IDEA: (this may be already be being done), but can the city develop a list of ALL properties that are available for rent and the list developed FROM landlords sending the 'announcement of availability' to the housing assistance programs...HUD, etc. AT LEAST, landlords will have a potential to more immediately select from a 'renter's pool'; ...and the renters are/will be with more consequential behavior than many who are not in a housing program. Landlords still have the right to refuse....BUT, they also have a 'bigger pool' to select from and there ARE homeless ppl who WOULD and DO really would respond positively to 'gtg a break' as gtg...housing. (Housing programs might would develop a more comprehensive yet realistic/reasonable rules list for the homeless/renter such as: a) of course, no damages to property, b) cleanliness standards they must adhere to of interior and immediate exterior of the property (trash maintenance, no collections of anything w/i exterior (materials, metals, appliances collected for sale, etc c) obligation to work in community garden once a week or some designated schedule, d) no overnight guests, e) no drinking or drugs, f) loud disturbances-via any loud sounds or guests 2X/month visits TO the hsg office w/letter from landlord of continuing no problem reporting OR listing a problem and hsg office visits TO THE PROPERTY once a month. Landlords send an availability announcement to hsg offices, Hsg does a selective match, tenant has responsive, responsible, active participation, all have monitoring criteria that keeps the match conducive. (more development needed on this idea is realized).

Re: “Downtown stadium proposed for Antlers Park

There was a story on the news not to long ago about the Switchbacks and there couldnt have been more then two dozen people in the stands where they were playing. Is there enough fans to justify this proposal? I dont get it I thought this whole stadium thing was put to bed. However if a private entrepreneur wants to pay for it and maintain it then so be it but the parks are public.

Re: “Downtown stadium proposed for Antlers Park

I thought our City Parks should be protected NOT turned into private sports stadiums - I'm ashamed of Mr. Skorman for supporting this proposal. This goes right along with the policy from the mayor giving away Strawberry Fields to the Broadmoor....

What's next? only pay to use neighborhood parks?

Re: “Downtown stadium proposed for Antlers Park

Why are we still doing this? Nobody wants a stadium. It's a huge gamble as to whether or not it would be profitable. I'm not paying money tax to construct operate a for-profit business... especially one that will probably fail. I've seen high school football games with bigger attendance than your average Switchbacks game. Also, I live downtown. What would this do the parking situation? Let this terrible idea die.
