Re: “D-11 sees legal threat over Confederate lesson

Alexander Stephens, the Confederate Vice President stated the Civil War and the preceding secession was about slavery. The confederacy had a tendency to kill their black p.o.w.s., so it's unlikely they treated their black slaves much better.

There is nothing honorable about the confederacy.

Re: “Police left buried under a mountain of marijuana and red tape as weed laws change

first of all, this is NOT legalization, as there be NO regulations which (is) then the problem, we face. We must trust that this plant is not dangerous as all the evidence says it's not pigweed.In fact, it's pretty funny to see this prohibitionist dress in white bunny suits with signs of danger all around their workplace as they grind cannabis up. this they would have to do if it was pigweed, but, frankly is ridiculous to see police doing this stage showmanship practice. frankly, these fools need to be placed in nearus nut house The police have a prohibitionist disease so does this reporter, The facts are clear.The people want cannabis legal in all states. Its time to legalize and stop this parade of lies and arrest .its time to stop cannabis prohibition for liberty sake

Re: “D-11 sees legal threat over Confederate lesson

Damn Straight it wasn't about slavery !!! Perhaps only four out of the first few States which seceded referenced slavery within their declarations of secession, however the other nine made no such reference, they have joined their brother and sister States into the conflict only after Lincoln, The Tyrant, had decided to invade The South with his first 75,000 Yankee aggressors.
By the way, to all of you misguided and ill-informed snowflakes, don't confuse a legal departure of sovereign States from an overpowering and overreaching federal government with the actual war. Yes, some mentions may have been made about slavery regarding the issue of legal secession, the war in itself however has been waged by the North in order to reclaim its cash cow back into the Union. The South payed most of America's bills.

So yes, please keep laughing your asses off, but why stop there, laugh your entire ignorant and uneducated snowflake brainwashed mind out as well.

Deo Vindice, Confederate Mike.

Perhaps they can give lessons in the American Nazi movement as well. Not all of our history needs to be glorified. Some aspects
are shameful.

Re: “Reader: I'm fed up with the hate being spewed at the symbols of our history

If the writer of this letter actually KNEW the recorded words of William Tappan Thompson she would keep quiet about "revisionist" history. This isn't revision;
These are HIS words;
"As a people, we are fighting to maintain the Heaven-ordained supremacy of the white man over the inferior or colored race; a white flag would thus be emblematical of our cause. Such a flagwould soon take rank among the proudest ensigns of the nations, and be hailed by the civilized world as THE WHITE MAN'S FLAG."-William Tappan Thompson
Combine that with the fact that the "rebel flag" was used by the KKK and others who fought integration from the 1940s until today and it becomes very hard to understand how someone can deny that it's a symbol of racism more than it is any other thing. "

It IS a flag representing racial hatred, no matter what revision the "daughter" of "The South" wishes to apply.

Re: “Reader: Sen Gardner, show some spine and stand up

Ive seen the VA in action first hand Ive also seen Medicare work and in my life in my dealings a hell of a lot better then these private corporations and way way better then not having anything. At least with Medicare and the VA if you got sick or hurt twenty years ago and something came out of that infliction THEY STILL TREAT YOU.

"The solution to health care is to get rid of the insurance companies and Big Pharma and provide universal coverage. "

Have you seen how well the VA works? Trading one set of problems for another doesn't seem like much of a solution.

Re: “Reader: Sen Gardner, show some spine and stand up

It seems to me Mr Gardner cow tows to everyone except his constituents! He sides with trump, he poses with murderous dictators, and he refuses to have face to face town halls. How can he possibly represent any of us on health care? His only agenda is nailing down a DC job with his pal Donnie. Very sad for Colorado and hopefully we can get rid of him in 2020

Re: “El Paso County Commissioners vote unanimously for district remapping

Plain and simple the apportionment of PCT 172 (Patty Jewett) and PCT 179 (Shooks Run) into District 5 where Monument & Palmer Lake's PCT's into District 3 is a political (affiliation) veiled ploy. It seeks to divide and divest a well established community voices of the downtown and west side/Manitou older neighborhood's voices and is in violation with CO Constitutional provisions that communities are to be held together, all for the sake of attempting to maintain 100% Republican majorities in the County. No other reason. Yes some have put up a lame argument that this is a low cost, low effort way of balancing growth of the north end of the county but that also divests District 4 as well. The Republican locals fear those voices challenging their absolute majorities in the County. The whole plan must be thrown away, the public must have ample input and time and a fair apportionment must be conducted devoid of self-serving partisan considerations. If not the communities should rise up and find a way to challenge the County Board in court and let us see how cheap their veiled designs come to pass.

Carrie Vaughn who won in the genre category and is in the turquoise blouse in the picture above is also from Colorado Springs. She graduated from high school at Lewis Palmer and lived here for a few years after college. She is now in the Boulder area.

I am amazed, but not shocked, when anyone exhibits the arrogance of equating "show some spine" with "agree with my point of view."

Re: “This course doesn’t need teachers?

As much as I love online classes for the convenience of learning at flexible hours for the student, it is more time consuming than actually being in a traditional classroom setting. Will I still have the same discipline I now have for online classes if I didn't spend my childhood/adolescence amongst peers of my liking/disliking and without teachers whom strengthens my weaknesses and expose my strengths? Absolutely not. Many things can be replaced or devalued with technology (bookstores, malls, fashion retail, socializing and even dining) teachers are not one of them. Teachers do not just teach, they help shape students' attitudes, behaviors and values. They influence us to become the people we are.

His dad comes and cuts our grass he will not allow us to cut it our selfs but he want even give us a day noticed to were we can pick up the kids toys so he can cut the grass, he just shows up when ever he wants and then gets pissed if they have a toy in yard but when he dose show up we go outside and pick them up if we are home and we have a cement slab in back yard and he just go on to it and throw what ever he wants a way We do not have any type of agrement at all on paper but all of the bills are in my name. They have also entered the home with out asking us. I woke up one day neaked in my bed to his dad just standing their staring at me so I cussed him all to piece.
