Re: “Leave your stinkin' drone at home

What about all the Harley Davidson motorcycles riding through the national and state parks. Way louder than any drone. The FAA officially controls the airspace not the parks or the city or anyone else.

Re: “Audience counters Douglas Bruce at election forum

Mayor Suthers has demanded six tax and fee increases in the last two years. Seniors and lower income folks can't afford an additional estimated $282 a year. Note that no police officers were named in the employee increases on next years budget. This is known as a "bait and switch". It truly would be nice if the citizens could see both sides of the issues and not just what government/developer agenda spouts!

Re: “UPDATE: Neighbor structure steals privacy, Colorado Springs residents allege

The rest of the story: The statement by Peter Wysocki (above) was FALSE. The building was approved by his office with an illegal size and setback. The numbers on the plan submitted were wrong - falsified, in our opinion, to make them appear to code. When alerted to this, Peter Wysocki ignored us and now, after six months of trying to get him to do the right thing, is helping the homeowner bring this project to code (by some very deceptive means). I hope you all will take a look at our website, "Protect our Westide". All the details are there. Thanks! http://www.protectourwestside.com

Re: “Local health care activists face charges despite Sen. Cory Gardner’s apparent request to dismiss

Those who break the law should have to deal with the consequences of their actions. Take some responsibility and deal with it. They knew exactly what they were doing and city resources were deployed to handle it.

This is a typical progressive action... break laws + whine = injustice

Re: “Local health care activists face charges despite Sen. Cory Gardner’s apparent request to dismiss

Thanks Nat Stein for covering this. One clarification: regarding " ...many of whom had participated in a similar action at Gardners office the month prior. In that instance, they stayed until 7:30 p.m., got tired and went home. No police." We didn't go home because we were tired. Andy Merritt, Gardner's state director, met with us and gave us his business card. We felt like we had made some progress towards getting some straight answers and accountability, so we went home with Andy's card and his promise to follow up with us regarding Gardner holding a town hall. We soon discovered that the phone number on Andy's card was not his. The office claimed that this was a mistake at the printer. There was no follow up, and no way to follow up, because emails went unanswered and phone calls went to a voicemail that belonged to someone other than the person identified on the business card, and were not returned.

Re: “Utilities will fund water and sewer relocations for Olympic Museum area

A look at the handouts facilitated by your utility bill to Developers. More to come if 2A passes and the taxes ("fees") are collected on your utility bill. Vote NO on 2A.

Re: “Jenkins buys RBD downtown properties

Dear RBD; Re-read your mission because everyone who works for you will approve any variance.

That City council of progressives is so very afraid that infill won't happen. This sale is underhanded and should not be approved below assessed value. By the way - assessed value doesn't include realtor fees.

Re: “UPDATE: Felony charges dismissed against John San Agustin

"On June 14, 2017, in preparation of trial of co-defendant Terrance Maketa, Detective Kaiser said that it was definitely Chief Deputy District Attorney Gerhart who ordered Ms. Trull to be arrested and not the defendant or any of her supervisors."

Sooooo.... the question of the day.... Will we be seeing charges against Shannon Gerhart?

Re: “Nicoletta, Jaray running for Manitou mayor

While I have not agreed to all of the Mayor Nicoletta's programs and policies she has always been upfront with me and helpful when possible. As a business owner who does not live in Manitou (an unwelcome species) it is hard to be heard at local meetings with residents shouting "You don't live here and your opinion mean nothing".
I have witnessed Ken Jaray's strong-arming firsthand. In our first meeting he stood in my business and stated "If you do not go along with the residents proposal, I will do everything in my power to shut you down". I do not need this man to be in charge if that is how he treats local business owners.
Nicoletta has made some mistakes but her approach is better for everyone I assure you.

Re: “Reader: Vote "yes" for the children

They can't afford to turn the heat on? But they can afford to sponsor the "EBSCO" and "Explora" databases that have been in the news all over the country for streaming p*rn and hundreds of "sex toy" advertisements into K-12 databases? Don't give them another cent until they get rid of EBSCO!!! Imagine the mismanagement of taxpayer money, leaving kids without basic needs, while peddling p*rn. See the National Center on Sexual Exploitation for more information, also see CBS4, Education Week, Fox Birmingham (EBSCO's hometown! ... EBSCO has publicly admitted the problems, but D-11 just keeps peddling the EBSCO...what kind of kickbacks do they get??) http://endsexualexploitatio...

Re: “UPDATE: New website blasts El Paso County Sheriff Elder

It's the DA's office that's corrupt. Dan May went after Maketa, Presley and John San Agustin for one reason: He didn't want Evan Ebel memory or any of the 211 gang coming after him. Instead of recusing himself or moving to another state, May wanted to bring down anyone who wanted to bring down the 211ers. But San Agustin was like a dog on the scent and Maketa wanted him to be free to follow every lead no matter the consequence. The Texas Rangers had ID'd a dozen 211 gang members that likely helped Ebel but Dan May wanted nothing of it. So as of March 2016, May and ass't DA Shannon Gerhart, who likely perjured herself, got the grand jury to indict San Agustin. It was however, Shannon Gerhart, who had signed the arrest warrant for Kelli McMahan then told the grand jury San Agustin "kidnapped" (arrested) her! WHAT?
Number one, John DIDN'T arrest her. But if he had, there was a valid "arrest warrant" issued by an officer of the court (Gerhart), so does a valid arrest mean it's a kidnapping? I guess the DA's office can prosecute any cop for kidnapping, if he or she arrests anyone.
Number two, John was nowhere in sight when Kelli was carted off to the poky.
Number three, a simple check of John's ID card and times he entered and exited were easily determined, but Gerhart chose to lie to the grand jury.
As a reward (?) Shannon is now appointed to a district judgeship by Gov. Hick, good friend of Evil Ebel's dad. If I didn't know better, I'd think this was Chicago c. 1920 - present.
In the end May and Gerhart should be in jail. San Agustin will win his $10M lawsuit and I just wish Gerhart and May did some hard time.

Re: “Hiking Waldo Canyon then and now

Bob, although I appreciate your report (and I enjoy bushwhacking from time to time myself), isn't this report, in such a public format, going to encourage excessive damage from myriad social/rogue trail production? Shouldn't we work toward the establishment of "official" trails to minimize further destruction? Thoughts?

Re: “Loss of a beloved trail in Jones Park is leading to interesting proposals

It's B.S. that they are taking this trail away for a fish that was only brought to the area in the 1800s, ON THIS SAME TRAIL (which was a toll road at the time). That's completely ridiculous. Relocate the fish to their natural habitat on the Platte river and leave this area alone. It's been used for over 100 years by people for living, hiking, biking, and recreation.
