Re: “Reader: Concrete Couch took on a project it can't handle

Perusing local newspapers around the country, it is obvious that homelessness is not a problem in just Colorado Springs. Apparently, it is one of the pressing issues nationwide that cannot be remotely solved by local entities. There is no attention being paid by any federal office, and the situation gets worse. The current Administration cant even address the homeless veterans, much less homelessness in general. Im of the notion that this is verging on a national emergency.

Re: “Colorado health insurance premiums stabilize

Thanks for the great read. There are many people who cannot afford health care insurance but they need it. This becomes quite difficult for them to get all the medical facilities at the time of need. For such people, the private insurance company like The Health Exchange Agency ( ) who are Medicare-approved firm, provides health insurance at the lowest possible deal. With the help of such team, one can easily get the premium facilities too, at the time of need.

Re: “Rat Film

Rat Control methods vary and some methods include, poisoning, and trapping. More natural methods can be used such as the removal of garden debris, domestic waste and construction waste etc. Other preventative methods can also be used like sealing openings into the home/premises etc. Hiring Pest Control New Haven County CT(… ) services or trying wire mesh, concrete and metal. Catch and release traps are sometimes used as a more humane solution.

Re: “Reader: Build a new kind of AFA chapel

Nothing about the USAFA chapel runs against the separation of church and state, which BTW is not really in the Constitution, but rather comes from a letter by Jefferson. The Constitution, more specifically the First Amendment as the Constitution itself only prohibits religious tests to hold offices, simply prohibits the federal government from establishing a religion or prohibiting the practice of a religion. Peter is just one of those people who thinks that since he doesn't believe in God, no one else should be allowed to.

Re: “Reader: Remember to be thankful

Hey Dave H:

The only embarrassment is found in diluting a point agreed upon.

If the author said she was disappointed she lost the lottery and someone points out her odds of winning sucked by an order of X, then the point is, her odds sucked. Doh! It detracts from that point for someone who agrees to come in and say "Umm,,, no. Her odds sucked by an order of XXX".

And, if my citation is suspect, then I would ask you to refute it. But I don't ask you to do so because, well, that is not the point. The point is, people who worry about getting killed in a mass shooting have f'd up priorities. Get it? No? I didn't think so. Carry on.

Re: “Beavers drive a wedge between Manitou Springs environmentalists, business owners

Beavers can cause a lot of damage through felling trees and building there dams. Contrary to what some think, their dams are not necessarily a beneficial thing -- in fact frequently are not. Many of the trees they cut down don't grow back very well and they can increase erosion and flooding, exactly the opposite of what many people claim.

Re: “The election is finally over, and now we know just how divided we really are

Mike probably got his information about the video from his fake news masters. I have watched the original and the "doctored" video and they did nothing to it to change how it looked except to zoom in. Even in the original video it is very clear that Acosta did put his hands on her.

Re: “Reader: Remember to be thankful

Odins odds appear to be for a given year. Which, given that we celebrate giving thanks annually, would be the normal thing to do. And his point is correct, a person's chances of dying from a mass shooting event are extremely low. The odds you gave for a lifetime are very suspect at best considering the average lifespan, how many people will die over that lifespan and rfom what causes. But by all means, feel free to continue embarrassing yourself Huck.

Re: “Reader: Remember to be thankful

Your odds are based upon mass shooting homicides/population; mine are based upon the lifetime odds of the individual being killed in a mass shooting.

In either set of odds, your input detracted from, rather than enlightened or informed the simple and clear point that I made in my original post. But hey, like I said: too late now.

You are free to say too much, and to fail to recognize when you have done so. Whatever.

Re: “Reader: Remember to be thankful

My odds are based on the rate of homicides with firearms to population of the US (about 4 per 100,000) and factor in that the overwhelming majority of homicides with firearms as not mass shootings (less than 1 in 25 is from a mass shooting) . The data comes from both the CDC (to include the NCHS) and FBI. Even just including all homicides with firearms, that would work out to 1 in 25,000. So the chances of any given individual to be killed in a mass shooting work out to be exceptionally low, probably closer to 1 in 625,000, but to account for annual fluctuations I brought it down to 1 in 500,000 . As far as holding your counsel, best not to throw stones, my friend.

Re: “Reader: Remember to be thankful

"Umm... no. The odds that she would be are closer to 1 in 500,000."

Well, if you are going to muddy the waters, you could at least provide a citation. My stat came from Business Insider, citing National Safety Council; National Center for Health Statistics; Alex Nowrasteh/Cato Institute; Stephan A. Nelson/Tulane University; "Natural Disasters"/Patrick L. Abbott; Gun Violence Archive.

I suppose we could also argue the contested definition of "mass shooting" and other issues but that would distract from a point you would have better made by holding your counsel Too late.
