Re: “El Paso County Coroner's Office data points to troubling problems with drugs, suicide

It is customary to report these types of statistics on a per capita basis in order to be able to properly compare them over time and with other cities. Colorado Springs' population growth since 2007 has been enormous, thus you would expect the raw counts to be greater in 2016 as almost 75,000 additional people now live in the area.

SPYDRA1....

I agree with your comment 100%. We've been asking the same questions as well and gotten unanswered response. And yes.... Kudos to Pam for sharing our sons story.

Re: “Baby's death highlights requirements, or lack thereof, for death investigations

Interesting that this story ran in the same issue as "The 'teachers' in this lab are dead." (https://www.csindy.com/coloradosprings/the… 6/14/2017)

Think about the "teaching hospital" that is UCH/Children's Hospital: doctors-in-training, *practicing* on pediatric patients...and burying their mistakes. There are MANY questionable instances at this hospital, enough to fill a book; kudos to Pam for shining a light on this single chapter.

I'd like to know more about the gastrointestinal fundoplication procedure, and why it was deemed a reasonable approach to treating what was presenting itself as a type of breathing disorder/apnea.

I'd like to know more about the big pharma-funded clinical research studies occurring at UCH/Children's -- how many medical experimental procedures are being performed, and are parents truly giving their fully-informed consent?

I'd like to know more about UCH's $35M taxpayer-funded EPIC records system -- how's that workin' out for them? (https://www.uchealth.org/today/2016/08/30/…)

I'd like to know more about the obvious oversight gap and conflicted interest of the hospital performing its own autopsies, as mentioned in Pam's story and the one linked below.

I'd like to know more about the hospital's relationship with the El Paso County Department of Human Services, and how they collude and canoodle to cover up and conceal medical errors by way of foisting unfounded allegations of medical neglect against parents with questions.

I'd like to know more.

Re: “City to recognize Waldo Canyon Fire Commemoration Day on June 26

I'd much rather they announce that they have identified the true cause of the fire.

Re: “Jared Polis announces gubernatorial run amid the oranges

Just another out-of-touch Denver/Boulder socialite. If you want the Governor of this state to represent ONLY the Denver/Boulder corridor then vote for this guy, as he is a carbon copy of the current office holder.

Isn't it about time that Pueblo or Manitou Springs nominate someone who represents the Democrats who think the Governor should represent EVERYONE in this state?

Re: “Pikes Peak Summit House Project delayed pending fundraising

This and the children's museum both have my support!
Not the "tourist" attraction sports medicine center, an unneeded stadium, and an AFA visitor center funded by the city.

Re: “Olympic Museum construction is underway

Not at all - since a major funder is also the owner of a local paper. Gag.
At least this museum I can sort of get behind.

Us paying for an AFA visitor center is not something I've ever been in favor of. Neither is the stadium. And I've always considered it a far stretch to characterize the university's sports medicine center as a tourist attraction.

A good source to read/see the entirety of Comey's testimony is at the NY Times site. Here is the link:

But then again, our city is working to shut down our coal plant. Makes me wonder if he's just trying to appease his voter base while working towards the betterment of our city's clean air

"For highlights of Comey's testimony, go to this CNN site."

Seriously? You cannot trust anything that CNN produces nowadays. How about including a link to a non-partisan site?

Re: “Olympic Museum construction is underway

Does anyone really believe the reporting of financial information surrounding this building and completion of surrounding infrastructure items is going to be transparent?

Re: “Local lawmakers split over Comey testimony

Congressman Doug Lamborn issued the following fake news after former FBI Director James Comey delivered:

The Lamborn alternative facts:
"... The former Director refused, under multiple avenues of questioning, to state that the President impeded or obstructed any investigations. I hope that we can now move on from the political theatrics of this hearing and return the focus to the important policy work being done to improve the lives of the American people."

The facts:
He refused, even under attack by Republican lawmakers asking multiple versions of the same question, to state that the President impeded or obstructed any investigations, IN AN OPEN, PUBLIC, FORUM. He deferred answering in public because it is an on-going investigation and the information is classified.

Yes, they are investigating your hero, and yes, we can now move on, to the criminal investigation. And no, not everyone is so distracted that we haven't noticed you passed deregulation of financial corps., giving them a license to steal while simultaneously defunding their oversight.

Re: “Medical marijuana patients turn to the courts to roll back home grow regulations

Hack really is an imbecile. He and the General Assembly of Idiots are united in opposition to our constitutional rights to use cannabis. They have declared all patients growing sufficient cannabis to juice the leaves felons for the ostensible purpose of cracking down on the black market without even asserting that patients and caregivers (as opposed to the State's own not-so-tightly regulated dispensary system or non-patients growing cannabis illegally) are disproportionately responsible, much less adducing any evidence! The State has now joined the new front in the War opened by Denver and the Colorado Municipal League against homegrowing and will scapegoat patients for its own failures, using $6 million paid by cannabis-consumers in taxes to pay rural cops to go door to door demanding to come in and count plants! Colorado is incapable of self-government and the proofs are its putative repreentatives and elected officials.
