Re: “Reader: An embarrassment to the public and officialdom alike

The whites have ever right to march and feel their pride too ! I didn't fight so a bunch of snot nosed cry babies can throw fit and choose who I served for . Minorities and weak white people are so intimidated to play on a level field it seems. Weak little people with weak fragile nonproductive parents !

Re: “Reader: An embarrassment to the public and officialdom alike

As I have stated before. Its not the Flags or the Monuments its the people that use them that make them repulsive. Dont abandon our History but put it its rightful place. And for goodness sake STAND up to the people that are using our History as a platform for hate. The Southern Solders and Officers at that time were standing up for what they thought were rights to there way of kife. As much as Washington and Jefferson were at there time in History. Thats the History of this Country thats got us to where we are. Theres a place for it just not at a KKK or skinhead rally.

Re: “Reader: Where does the Springs fall on the tolerance spectrum?

Jane you are a hypocrite. Saying we need to "eliminate" people that you disagree with. Why not have a conversation? You are not a tolerant person and it's because CNN tells you you have the moral authority when you do not. Liberals have no morals values or common sense.

Re: “Reader: How far does America need to fall?

Tommy, you are "whataboutism" personified.

Even if you were 100% right in your accusations about Hillary and Obama (you're not.) none of that would justify the travesty that is the current administration.

Neither Hillary nor Obama are president now. They can't do anything about this administration and have no influence on it (except indirectly and from the past, as the people in office now are trying to undo everything Obama ever did, regardless of what impact it had, out of sheer, petty spite for the man). Trump is, unfortunately, president. Own that, stop deflecting, FOCUS.

Re: “Reader: Where does the Springs fall on the tolerance spectrum?

Mike, I'm sure that thinking people will be skeptical of anyone who, upon seeing the chance to respond to this sort of situation, immediately says "IT'S ALL THEIR FAULT! THEIRS! THEY ARE THE WHOLE PROBLEM! MY SIDE HAD NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH THIS! THEY ARE CAUSING ALL, 100% OF THE DIVISIONS BETWEEN US AND THEY ARE THE ONES WHO NEED TO DO ALL THE CHANGING!"

It takes two to tango, bro. Or be dysfunctional, in this case. And I'm hoping you can see the irony in your statement highlighting that very point. One side cannot be completely at fault and anyone who says that's the case, such as yourself, is only contributing to the schism a la Rush Limbaugh and certifiable nutcases like Alex Jones, both of whom paint themselves as experts rather than being strictly for entertainment. (If you're aware of any left-wing examples, feel free to throw them in. I just don't happen to have any similar raving leftist personalities coming to mind at the moment. Blaming "the mainstream media" as a whole, though, smacks of conspiracy theory and doesn't really help your case, nor does blaming television and phones.)

Re: “This ain’t the Summer of Love

Both the Progressive Mayor of Berkeley CA, Jesse Arreguin and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi have denounced Antifa's violent tactics. Arreguin has gone so far as to want Antifa to be classified as a gang or militia. Even Noam Chomsky has spoken out against them. They aren't what the average American want to be associated with, and Democrats, and their media friends, have realized this and will be rapidly tossing the black clad thugs under the proverbial bus.

Democrats will never win another election due to their intolerance of conservative viewpoints. They better widen their circle.

The mainstream leftist media fans the flames of intolerance. People are highly suggestible. You do the math. Don't sit there and wonder why we are so divided we are brainwashed by our tv and phone screens.

Re: “Reader: Where does the Springs fall on the tolerance spectrum?

Tolerance is all well and good, but when facing an opponent with intolerant views - views that say someone is *not properly human* because of their race, or gender, or orientation, or political affiliation, or they don't have money, and thus are morally inferior and therefore need to be subjugated and reprogrammed... or eliminated - we're not required to tolerate that. There's a big difference between disagreeing with your neighbor over whether god exists, and thinking your neighbor probably needs to be shot or deported or detained in jail because they're worshipping the "wrong" god... or they're part of the wrong political party, or they don't speak English at home with their family, or they're having sex with the wrong gender person, or they wouldn't mind their tax money going to a single-payer form of health care.

Basically, tolerance only truly works when all sides involved can be trusted to fall within the guidelines of "disagree all you want but at the end of the day we're all human and all equals" and just disagreeing on how best to care for society and who to prioritize for that care. The fact is, many of us are fighting people who think we're NOT equals and have no intention of treating us as such, will not rest until society resembles their own ideals, and thus whenever they get power, they abuse it. And that abuse is already happening right before our eyes.

It is not an imposition to INSIST that people be tolerant within those boundaries, and label people who want to go outside of them as intolerant, and not accept their behavior. That's about the size of it.

The city is, naturally, a mix of viewpoints. I'd personally say it's somewhere in the middle. Conservatism is not necessarily the same as intolerance (though I do know quite a few people who'd disagree with me there, but even the left has been guilty of intolerance itself at times.) But we certainly have our vocal intolerants.

Re: “Reader: Where does the Springs fall on the tolerance spectrum?

Oh these EPC defining evangelicals! a Buddhist monk is walking with a rabbi and an evangelical minister, when they meet a farmer. The farmer says, "hey, you guys are all beggars, right? I've seen you all pass the plate. How do you decide how much money you keep and how much goes to the flock?"

The monk picks up a stick and draws a circle in the dirt. He turns his back to it, opens his coin purse, closes his eyes and tosses the coins over his shoulder. "I keep what lands in the circle, the rest buys rice for the sick and elderly."

The rabbi takes the stick and draws a triangle around the circle, and then another triangle pointing in the opposite direction. He stares at the symbol and softly tosses his coins. Many coins fell in the circle, but even more fell in the corners of the star! He smiles at the monk specifically when he puts the corner coins in his pocket. "The rest will buy winter coats for the orphans."

The minister pulls out his wad and throws it as hard and as high as he can into the clear blue sky with great exuberance. He says,"Whatever God catches, is His!"

Re: “Reader: How far does America need to fall?

Mr. Benson:

What's "integraty?" This comment platform has spell check. You might want to use it.

"How is Muslim countries donating 350 million dollars to Hillays PAY TO PLAY campaign not interfering with our elections ."

It never happened. You know that. Not only is $350M an exaggeration, but the funds you're talking about were donations to the Clinton Foundation. Hillary had no access to ANY of that money. Even if she could have had access to it, she lost. Those donations are irrelevant disingenuous talking points used to deflect attention from the corruption of the Trump administration.

" And you liberals talk about Russia." And all you're doing is trying to change the subject, probably because you know that the Russian story is going to end in criminal trials for the Trump team. Deal with it. Your guys tried to betray our country by cooperating with our primary enemy. Some call that treason.

So you don't like liberal "fit throwing?" Name a single time when the Trump administration reached out to anyone who didn't vote for him. Name one time he sincerely tried to bridge gaps and unite us. There has been no effort whatsoever. So don't act shocked and outraged that rejection creates hostility. Seriously. What did you expect?
