Re: “Pikes Peak Summit Complex still worthy of higher cost

It makes no difference how much is spent on the Summit House. A one year warranty for a $50M project? Hopefully someone will guesstimate $10M a year for maintenance cause it'll be needed. Who will pay for that?

Re: “Reader: Yup ... it's us bad, old Bible-believing Christians...

I remember the big assed ad in the Gazette a year or so ago, from some evangelical pentecostal minister, who got scared after a thousand plus local people signed their name to an even bigger ad that said the preacher wasn't reflecting the values of our town... and posted guards at the church doors...just in case militant gays showed up...
We are still experiencing public vitriol...even the GAzette editorial board tried to make Gaebler into a villian for attending the vigil for Orlando...its' still public vitriol...but now we have congressmen and ambassadors and governors and sheriffs who aren't afraid to stand up for us...

Re: “Reader: Yup ... it's us bad, old Bible-believing Christians...

My, my, my, Tom!! You do have a deep affection for loaded words, don't you? You know, those turns of the language that are intended to inflame the emotions of your desired audience? Words like "drama queen" and "over-exaggerated" and "religious boogeyman" and "claims" (you aren't familiar with the term "postulate"?) and "rant and rail" and "bad, old bibble believing christians" and "LGBTQ agenda" and "pushing progressive agenda (oh, my! so many agendas!! and all hers! not yours, of course) and 'supposed evangelical stronghold".... It's pretty clear that you have inflamed yourself, Tom! To what end? Do you feel strong now? Do you puff up with pride at your hateful letter? Do you think you have brought anyone over to your agenda? Do you feel superior, sinless, blameless? Did you put her in her place (the closet)? Are you fighting those feelings of attraction to guys inside yourself? It's okay, really. You were born whatever way your god intended. Just go with it.

You are full of yourself if you think you are facing obstacles that no one has faced before and that is coming from someone who thinks Glenn Perry is as disrespectful to millennials as you are being to others.

He reinforces every point made by the letter he argues against.
The Rev forgets Gordon Klingenschmitt who exemplifies the right wing 'Christian moral majority'.
Rev. Tommy Latham doesn't see that he is ranting against gays which is why he might not notice if the churches he visits are gas lighting or dog whistling.

Re: “Reader: Yup ... it's us bad, old Bible-believing Christians...

Every one of us that judges another human for being themselves, and for just being whom and what they are; needs to be careful what they say and preach. Their very own words also are so-called SIN, and that being that they thereby condemn themselves as well to eternal judgement by usurping "God's" authority to judge... of which no one else is given permission. ( read your so-called scriptures ) you idiots. And I quote... " Judge not lest ye be Judged also... ", for as surely as you are born; ... YOUR SIN ... will find you out! ". And if you don't believe that... you are Already self-condemned through your own actions and omissions. We are none of us without sin, no not one! Get over yourselves you ignorant and brazen usurpers of un-given authority.
If that sends me to Hell... so freaking be it! I for one ... am not afraid of your fantasy scare tactics to try and persuade me believe the nonsense I studied and you all puke out: to be a Jesuit Priest! Which I finally learned enough to renounce. I'll bring the Weinies, you bring the Marshmellows, Chocolate bars, and Graham Crackers. We'll party for Eternity you blithering fools!

"My concern is why she would even want to push her LGBTQ agenda in an evangelical church when she knows what their church doctrine proclaims."

Perhaps to try to educate the ignorant and woefully stupid? The LGBTQ aren't sinners because of their sexuality they were born with. Preaching and believing this lie, is bigotry and extremely cruel to fellow humans. Enough said.

Re: “Reader: Yup ... it's us bad, old Bible-believing Christians...

See this from the perspective of someone born knowing that they are gay; knowing since a child that they desire men or women in a way that is different than most people. For them: this is who you are. Now, there are these religious groups that believe, as you say, homosexuality is a sin. So according to the bible: who they are, that fundamental part of them, is evil. Murder is a sin. Lying is a sin. Cheating is a sin. Desiring someone the same sex as you is a sin.

But Reverend Tommy, murder, lying, and cheating are choices. Can you choose to go out Friday night and desire men? Unless you were already born with tendencies there would be nothing appealing to have sex with a man. Can you choose to believe gravity doesnt exist, or decide that you dont like chocolate? You have not spent enough time with gay people if cannot see that theres nothing that can make them not gay--because it is part of who they are.

From their perspective this sin of homosexuality in your book is simply a rule that was put there 3,000 years ago to distinguish a nomadic tribe from competing agricultural tribes settled in Fertile Crescent. Valuable for a tribe trying to maintain its population, irrelevant to a diverse society in an overpopulated planet. But the result of which is the majority population believe homosexuals are born evil. They are to be pitied. They are other. If you dont see how a religious adherence to an outdated law has an emotional impact that can influence someones entire life then you are being willfully blind.
Which is of course your choice.

Re: “Reader: Yup ... it's us bad, old Bible-believing Christians...

God will send an estimated 85% of all humans who ever lived to hell, a place of ETERNAL conscious torture from which there is no escape and no purpose except for god's revenge. Jesus himself will descend into hell, just so he can watch the torment of the damned in person, a sort of torture-porn. Christians in heaven can watch the sinners being burned too. Homosexuals are to be stoned to death. Rread the Bible, it's all clearly stated there, no metaphor needed. Oh yes, and god loves youl PS Ted Haggert never preached against gays, right?

Re: “Reader: The timing of the movement couldn't be better

DNC Rigging the Primaries, simplified
Mom and Dad: Hey kids, only 1 of you gets a playstation for xmas but they are expensive. We are asking both of you to pitch in 50 bucks to help out with the cost. (Timmy and Jane both hand over 50 bucks each)
Mom and Dad: We decided to give Jane the playstation before we even asked for the 50 bucks. Here you go Jane.
Timmy: That's not fair, can I get my 50 bucks back, or can you guys at least apologize?
Mom and Dad: No. You get neither. But next year we are giving one of you an xbox 1 and those are expensive too. We really really want you to pitch in 50 bucks again.
Timmy: I need new parents.

Re: “Reader: Drivers, manslaughter is not on your bucket list

I'm sorry you had such bad luck, but don't pretend every driver is out to get you. Even on my worst bike commute ever, I interacted with two stupid people, and about 600 other vehicles that respected me and my space.

Re: “The cost of cutting people and pay

I'm sorry, but isn't this the same thing that Whole Foods did to Natural Food Cooperatives and mom & pop markets all over the country? I get that this article is not ultimately about Amazon and Whole Foods, per se. But it's what RedBox and Netflix did to Blockbuster, as well as a whole lot of other independently owned video rental stores. It's what Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts did to smaller coffee shops, and what the fast food conglomerates did to chicken and fish shacks all over the country.

Companies/corporations of any size are obligated to provide a good customer experience, and that's what makes a customer come back. People like the food at McDonalds, and they like that it tastes the same no matter where they go. People like not having to plan their week around a video rental (when to pick it up, how to decide what to watch, when it has to be returned, etc.), and so Netflix was successful.

If customers truly value the experience of talking to a cashier, then this platform will not succeed. As someone who worked at a video store, I thought people would miss having recommendations. Turns out it's pretty easy to solicit them from Facebook, and build your Netflix queue. Video store clerks are obsolete, like rotary phones and dial-up internet. Get nostalgic all you want, but blaming corporations for keeping up with technology and consumer demand won't give these workers more desirable workforce skills. Let's focus on where jobs are headed, and how to get people trained for the jobs that are sitting unfilled right now.
