Re: “Tool punishes the Pepsi Center — the band at its best

Great show, some recycled video was a tad disappointing, and no Descending was a big disappointment. Maynard sounded great on new songs but he sounded off on some of the older stuff. Still a great show, especially if you could see Danny kill every song as usual.

Re: “Dave Olsen’s Sound Advice

Ah, The Clash. Nice choice, that. They're one of the three musical artists I'd choose to have with me on a deserted island, although I'd have some trouble making up my mind as to which album. What the heck, it's my ethics scenario, so I'll say all of 'em!

Re: “BABYMETAL at The Ogden Theatre show preview

Babymetal formed in 2010 so their half life is longer than Psy, Blackpink, or BTS. Not to mention Babymetal tours with a backing band of live musicians. They've opened for Metallica, Korn, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns and Roses. They're the real deal, and are in it for the long haul.

That we're even discussing them here shows that they have arrived, because the regular press just doesn't cover metal bands, and yet here we are.

Re: “BABYMETAL at The Ogden Theatre show preview

Worst article ever, Babymetal is from Japan and half of this article it's about Korea... does this guy think Japan and Korea are the same country?... his head is gonna explode when he finds out there are two Koreas.
And he talks like if Babymetal was some kind of novelty act, I guess he doesn't know Babymetal is a worldwide sensation, a consolidated band with 10 years of career that just keeps getting bigger and bigger everyday.

Re: “Music venues find it costly to stay on the right side of copyright law

It doesn't go "nowhere," it goes to the artists. Consider it a cost of doing business.

Re: “Steel Pulse talk about selling souls and raging against the machine

I disagree that Steel Pulse was ever on a fifteen year hiatus. They may have gone through a stage that was more commercial for a time but there were always some songs I liked on every album. I think sometimes they were even a bit flippant, like the song about having a crush on a school teacher. I thought that was a funny song because I could just imagine the record company asking them to have a few love songs on the album. One things for sure though, when David Hinds wrote "Back to my roots" he kept his word. Never went backwards and the band was always working hard. I love reading or hearing interviews from Steel Pulse. Thank you for this one!

Re: “David Berman’s Purple Mountains project is his last

Malkmus and Berman met in college, so I'm not sure they could be accurately described as "childhood friends".

I haven't heard the Rainford or Mead albums but Hoop I have. And while the cover still very creepy to me the music was great!

Re: “Toad the Wet Sprocket's Glen Phillips on success, depression and going it alone

I am 63 years old and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE toad the wet sprocket. When I read their song: Walk on the Water, was written on Orcas Island, Washington state us possessions, I was blown away. I grew up on Orcas Island in the 1950s and 1960s. My Father was a yacht captain who had his three huge yachts for lease. This was my favorite part o childhood. We lived all over the world. Knowing "Toad the Wet Sprocket" recorded their hit song "Walk on the Ocean" BLOWS ME AWAY. GORGEUOS SONG, GORGEOUS SETTING. I am now 63 years old and would go back to Orcas Island in an instant. Gorgeous, young, talented singer/ songwriters . Please offer me my life back!! Rhonda Wells, Spring Hill, FL USA 2019. I am awaiting a ticket back.

Re: “Billie Eilish, The Campfire Flies, Chris Cohen with the new and noteworthy

Love hanging with my 20 year old daughter, going for rides listening to Billie where once we did Gaga duets. This music appeals to the aged adolescent in me. Loring you are right. 25.
