Re: “A Woodland Nightmare

The trouble is with the 60 to 80 percent closed etc because they went back to old habits or raised their prices too much it's hard to believe with mange mange they had a world. Class chef who obviously produced great food they extended his contract but he left probably because things were beyond his control food quality badly reduced to what was used before the owner seemed a nice lady who was carding too much because she had not been trained to all the jobs and trained as owner manager those things take years you can't pick it up in five mins, 9 out of ten businesses like that close in the first year even with exsperienced people good luck to all if your one of these closed restaurants go to buissness and cookery college you can go at any age learn and gain exsperiance then come back fighting

Re: “Happy Belly Tacos announces planned opening, pop-up dinner

Piglatin caribbean and pork belly tacos are the bomb. How can you go wrong with either. I enjoy being so close to the restaurant, but also enjoy the atmosphere of a food truck. See ya all soon.

Re: “Vittles for Vests makes it easy — and delicious — to equip cops

Walk a mile in their shoes. Cop work is not fun.

It's safe to say that there are plenty of bad guys with an arsenal that the cops can't match. Mix your average drunk/high and disorderly types who think a handgun solves all problems. It's dangerous work, and I wouldn't do it for the paltry salaries they are paid.

There's some overkill in the "toys" they have, but you don't go into a gun fight with a knife.

Security is 50% preparation. It's better to have the tools you need and not use them than to need tools you don't have in an emergency.

Re: “Vittles for Vests makes it easy — and delicious — to equip cops

Seems to me that police and the military get much, much more than their fair share of tax dollars, so uh no, I dont want to contribute..... Save this kind of stuff for health care and schools, they are perennially shortchanged while police get all the toys the want....,

Re: “Mira Sol food truck serves pure fire

That's expensive considering they don't have a restaurant with overhead.

Re: “Vittles for Vests makes it easy — and delicious — to equip cops

What?

Really? When CS showed up recently at a potential hostage situation (one person - 15 or more cops), I saw armored vehicles (complete with a gun turret on top - for what, a future machine gun?), flash grenades, drones, etc. and cops wearing vests...all of them. What I didn't see were the robot bomb detectors, helicopters, facial recognition software, surveillance cameras, tasers, advanced pepper sprays, and everything else being offered up to the thin blue line that seems to be a mile thick in pursuit of a pseudo-militarized domestic world. What's next, a submarine for the reservoirs?

State legislators, local officials and others approve the expenditures and how it's spent, so I suggest going back to drawing board and determining what is really crucial, and stop acting as if ISIS is about to parachute into the Springs and invade the mountain West.

I'll guess you have to raise taxes again because I'm not doling out shit anymore...

Re: “Vittles for Vests makes it easy — and delicious — to equip cops

What? I bet they don't have a shortage of weapons or ammunition, do they? Tanks (complete with a gun turret on top), drones, flash grenades, tasers, advanced pepper sprays, military grade surveillance equipment. I mean that's what I saw when the CS cops responded to a potential hostage situation near my house. Even if it was given to them by the feds, there is serious maintenance and training involved here.

Why are citizens increasingly asked to give more and more to the police and firefighters (how many not-for-profits are there in America now, 1 million plus?)? The police are always clamoring for more money, telling us that our safety depends on it. Ugg...

Re: “The Little Piazza Food Truck's lasagna sandwich isn't all that bad

I found the lasagna sandwich to be refreshingly different. The grill toasted bread added a new flavor to the lasagna. Adding the preserves worked for me even though I ate half of the sandwich without the preserves. I enjoy unique and creative food and this sandwich is a home run both counts. I will oder it everytine I catch up to Bill and Little Pazza.

The city needs to consider some fees on these food trucks to level the tax-related playing field with their brick and mortar counterparts.

Re: “Irie Rasta Caribbean Bar and Grill showing a tough start in Manitou Springs

Thanks for the honest, fair review of this place.

I'm from Florida originally, and I've had too much authentic Caribbean cuisine in south Florida and the Keys, so I won't try places like this unless it's reported to be off the wall good. Maybe they will improve!
